Azerbaijan Tourism Board participates in the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) 2024 Global Summit, taking place in Perth, Western Australia. This event gathers leaders and leaders from across the travel and tourism industry to discuss evolving trends, challenges, and innovations shaping the sector’s future. Being the largest global private sector travel and tourism network, WTTC has mission to maximize the inclusive and sustainable growth potential of the sector by partnering with governments and industry experts.
WTTC Global Summit provides a platform for Azerbaijan to highlight its strategic role in promoting sustainable travel and showcase the country’s unique tourism offerings. By participating in this summit, Azerbaijan seizes the opportunity to contribute to the global discussions on the challenges and solutions of travel and tourism sector development. Azerbaijan’s delegation is actively engaging in the summit, contributing to discussions on sustainable tourism and industry transformation. The delegation includes Mr. Kanan Gasimov, the Head of Administration at the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Mr. Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of Azerbaijan Tourism Board, who had a productive meeting with Ms. Julia Simpson, President and CEO of WTTC. Additional meetings with industry leaders, including Jane Sun, CEO of Trip.com Group, led to fruitful discussions of the collaboration based on newly signed MoU. At the "Global Leaders Forum" and "Advisor Circle Reception" delegates addressed industry challenges and showcased Azerbaijan's initiatives, including the preservation of the UNESCO site "Khinalig and the Köç Yolu Transhumance Route," efforts for biodiversity protection at Shirvan National Park, and community-based tourism. It was also highlighted that Baku's hosting of COP29 showcases Azerbaijan's commitment to climate action, with tourism taking centre stage, including the first-ever Thematic Day on Tourism on November 20, featuring a high-level ministerial meeting and the launch of the COP29 Declaration on Enhanced Climate Action in Tourism, aimed at advancing ambitious climate goals.
As a WTTC Destination Partner, Azerbaijan reinforces its commitment to sustainable tourism and underscores Azerbaijan’s dedication to advancing its tourism sector and fostering global collaboration.
