Tourism Leaders from Türkiye Explore Azerbaijan's Tourism Offerings

From December 9 to 14, 2024, Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) welcomed representatives from Türkiye's 6 top tourism companies to participate in a Familiarization Trip. This thoughtfully planned journey provided an in-depth introduction to Azerbaijan’s diverse offerings, from its rich cultural heritage to its breathtaking natural landscapes, with a special spotlight on the captivating Nakhchivan.

Planned to inspire and inform, the trip offered participants a comprehensive and immersive introduction to Azerbaijan's rich cultural heritage and diverse tourism opportunities, with a particular focus on highlighting Nakhchivan's tourism potential. From the Kangarli Mountains to Alinja Fortress – a medieval fortress with stunning view, participants explored a variety of captivating sites, each providing a unique window into the region’s rich history and breathtaking nature.

To further strengthen ties and explore future cooperation, a series of B2B meetings were held during the trip. Representatives engaged in productive discussions with nearly 20 Azerbaijani tourism companies, discussing opportunities for future collaboration and partnership development.

In a testament to the growing partnership between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, the number of Turkish tourists visiting Azerbaijan from January to November 2024 reached an impressive 389 173 - a 14% increase compared to the same period last year. These figures underscore the deepening tourism ties between the two nations, facilitated by visa-free travel and frequent, convenient flights connecting the countries.

This initiative by Azerbaijan Tourism Board underscores Azerbaijan’s commitment to sharing its cultural and natural treasures with the world while building enduring international partnerships. The familiarization trip highlighted not only Azerbaijan’s immense tourism potential but also its dedication to fostering closer ties with Türkiye and beyond.
