Seoul, South Korea – November 25, 2024 – Azerbaijan Tourism Board hosted a networking dinner and destination showcase in Seoul. The event brought together over 60 distinguished representatives from South Korea’s media, tourism industry, and influencer community to explore Azerbaijan’s diverse travel offerings and foster meaningful connections.
The evening began with a welcome reception, followed by opening remarks from Mr. Ramin Hasanov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Korea, Mr. Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board and Eldar Alimuradov, Chairman of Azerbaijan Hotel Association. In his speech, Mr. Sengstschmid emphasized the growing potential for collaboration between South Korea and Azerbaijan, highlighting Azerbaijan’s unique position as a gateway between East and West.
At the event, it was announced that South Korean tour operators are launching a new direct charter flight connecting Baku to Seoul, operated by Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL). The first charter rotation between two dynamic capitals is scheduled to commence on May 2, 2025 operating until the middle of July, a historic date that will be remembered as a milestone in strengthening ties between Azerbaijan and South Korea. The inaugural flight will mark the beginning of a regular weekly service, operating every Friday out of Seoul. The new route will significantly reduce travel time between Seoul and Baku, cutting it from approximately twelve hours to just seven.
Additionally, a detailed destination presentation transported attendees to Azerbaijan, showcasing the country’s breathtaking landscapes, historical landmarks, and cultural richness. The presentation highlighted key attractions such as Baku’s modern architectural marvels, Sheki’s UNESCO-listed heritage, and the serene Gabala region, which offers both adventure and relaxation.
Representatives from Azerbaijan’s leading travel companies and organizations, including the Azerbaijan Hotels Association, introduced their services during the event. These presentations provided insights into the tailored experiences Azerbaijan offers to South Korean travelers, from luxury accommodations to immersive cultural tours.
During the networking dinner Azerbaijani delegates engaged with South Korean guests, discussing opportunities for partnerships and shared growth in the tourism sector. Adding excitement to the evening, a lucky draw offered prizes such as sponsored trips, hotel stays, and cultural experiences in Azerbaijan.
The event concluded with a farewell address and an open networking session, allowing attendees to deepen connections and explore potential collaborations in a relaxed atmosphere.
This successful evening marks another step in the Azerbaijan Tourism Board’s commitment to promoting Azerbaijan as a must-visit destination, known for its rich history, vibrant culture, and world-class hospitality.
