The European Federation of Periodontology’s Perio Master Clinic conference will be held in Baku in 2026.
The decision was made on 1 April in Elsinore, Denmark, as a result of anonymous voting that took place among the EFP General Assembly’s European members. Javid Ahmedbeyli, an Associate Professor at the Department of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery at Aziz Aliyev Azerbaijani State Advanced Training Institute for Doctors and president of the Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology, represented our country at the conference with the support of Azerbaijan Tourism Board and made a presentation on Baku’s business events potential. At the end of the event, Baku Convention Centre was elected by a majority of votes as the venue for the conference to be held on 6-7 March 2026.
The conference will be chaired by Javid Ahmedbeyli. Mariano Sanz, a Professor at the Complutense University of Madrid, will be the Chairman of the Scientific Committee at the conference. It should be noted that for about a year, Baku and Helsinki had been competing to host the Perio Master Clinic conference, which will attract more than 1,000 international participants to Baku. One of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board’s strategic objectives is to attract large-scale international events to Azerbaijan by promoting our country’s business events opportunities.
Founded in 1991, the European Federation Periodontology is a federation of 37 national periodontal societies that represents more than 16,000 periodontists and oral-health professionals from Europe and around the world. As a leading association of periodontology, its focus is on raising awareness and fostering knowledge and education about gum health with the slogan ‘Periodontal health for a better life’. The Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology was an associate member of EFP during 2017-2022 and obtained full membership status in 2022. Its aim is to promote the development of periodontology in our country, raise public awareness among doctors and the Azerbaijani population about the importance of oral health, emphasize the role of early diagnosis and treatment of gum disease, and highlight its relationship with general health and systemic diseases.
