At COP29, hosted this year in Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku, the national EXPERIENCE AZERBAIJAN stand, presented by the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Tourism Board in the “Green Zone”, offers an engaging showcase of the country’s rich cultural and natural attractions. Guests and media are invited to experience Azerbaijan’s tourism potential through masterclasses, different types of destination presentations, traditional sweets and local wine tasting, interactive games, VR experiences, and promotional videos.
The stand offers a rich array of experiences, beginning with tastings and presentations of Azerbaijani national cuisine, traditional tea ceremonies, local sweets, wines, and the "Slow Food Travel" concept, which underscores a commitment to biodiversity protection. Visitors can also enjoy a range of masterclasses, from carpet weaving and sock knitting to wool spinning, ceramic painting, embroidery, and coppersmithing, each reflecting Azerbaijan’s artisan heritage. An immersive virtual reality (VR) section brings Azerbaijan’s iconic sites to life, allowing guests to explore destinations like Khinalig, Yanar Dag, Ateshgah, Icherisheher, Sheki Khan’s Palace, and Goygol. The presentation zone also highlights Azerbaijan’s nature and outdoor tourism offerings, business event opportunities, UNESCO World Heritage sites, and a wide range of other unique tourism experiences and products.
Additionally, COP29 will mark a historic milestone with the first-ever Thematic Day on Tourism on November 20. This landmark event will include a high-level ministerial meeting and the launch of climate initiatives aimed at advancing sustainability within the tourism sector.
In support of COP29’s outreach, Azerbaijan’s State Tourism Agency has enhanced visitor experiences at Absheron and Altiaghaj National Parks with new signs, information boards, and light infrastructure improvements. Furthermore, eight mobile tourism information centers have been established at key transport hubs across Baku, offering attendees guidance and event information daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
