On March 27–28th, 2024, Turkmenistan is hosting an international conference on directions and opportunities for tourism development, where Javanshir Bayramov, Deputy CEO of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, presented the country with a keynote speech, emphasizing the strengthening of cultural and tourism ties between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
In his speech, Bayramov noted a significant increase in the number of tourists from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan, highlighting an increase of 14% compared to January 2019. This positive development reflects mutual interest and strengthening of friendship between two countries. Further, he emphasized the importance of collaborative projects in tourism and other sectors as key to a successful and mutually beneficial partnership.
Azerbaijan has been actively enhancing its tourism landscape, focusing on the development of infrastructure and quality of services, particularly in mountain, cultural, and gastronomic tourism. Located at the crossroads of East and West, Azerbaijan offers tourists an immersion into rich culture spanning from ancient monuments to modern architectural masterpieces.
The speech also underscored Azerbaijan's impact on the global tourism market, including its cultural heritage and natural resources, as well as artistic diversity. The country's unique tourism attractions, such as mud volcanoes and ancient Zoroastrian temples, attract visitors from all over the world.
Concluding his speech, Javanshir Bayramov expressed hope for the further development of cooperation in tourism and emphasized readiness to cooperate and share experiences to achieve shared goals in the field.
