Azerbaijan Tourism Board to participate at Qatar Travel Mart
Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) will participate at the Qatar Travel Mart on 16-18 November 2021 together with 12 local companies, including hotels, tour agencies and the Tourism Department of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, aiming to strengthen its collaboration with relevant partners as well as share its strategy going forward as the ‘new normal’ trends continue to emerge.
"We are delighted to be a part of Qatar’s first ever travel exhibition and connect with relevant partners to increase our presence in this market with solid offerings. With visa-free travel launched between Azerbaijan and Qatar as well as daily flight connectivity, we are looking forward to welcoming more Qatari travellers back to Azerbaijan”, said Florian Sengstschmid, Chief Executive Officer of Azerbaijan Tourism Board.
Travellers from Qatar can enjoy a myriad of experiences in Azerbaijan, from exhilarating outdoor adventures and calming getaways eat specialist health and wellness resorts to enjoying city life and culture with health and safety regulations in place. Hiking in the Caucasus Mountains through quaint villages, oil baths in Naftalan, salt or hot spring therapies in specific parts of the country, travelling along Slow Food routes and meeting local producers or enjoying the magnificent mix of ancient and modern landmarks including UNESCO World Heritage sites rich in history are also part of the travel narrative here.
Speaking about the importance of Qatar among source markets in the Middle East, Mr. Sengstschmid added: "As the international borders have been gradually opening since June, it is very pleasing to see a steady increase in the number of Qatari travellers arriving in Azerbaijan. We believe they will find even more to enjoy here in the post-pandemic period”.
Currently, citizens and permanent residents of 65 countries can travel to Azerbaijan by air, including Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. With restored connection via Azerbaijani Airlines, Qatar Airways, Flydubai and Air Arabia, passengers aged 18 and over can now fly to Azerbaijan by submitting both a COVID passport (an official document issued by the relevant country on complete vaccination or recovery from COVID-19) and a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before the flight, while for minors only the latter needs to be provided within the indicated period of time.
