From lush natural landscapes to rich cultural traditions and authentic local hospitality, Azerbaijan’s Lankaran-Astara region offers a distinctive mix of experiences waiting to be explored. On 8-9 October, Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) brought together 50 local travel industry representatives for a familiarisation trip, offering a first-hand look at the region’s tourism potential while opening up new opportunities for destination development, travel itineraries and industry collaboration.
Designed around an experience-led approach, the programme offered first-hand insights into the region’s tourism infrastructure, accommodation and leisure facilities, and established tourism attractions. Participants explored the destination’s potential for nature-based, cultural and recreational tourism, gaining a closer understanding of the experiences that make Lankaran-Astara an appealing addition to Azerbaijan’s wider tourism offering.
The visit also provided an opportunity for travel industry professionals to assess the region’s existing tourism products, identify possibilities for developing new itineraries and visitor experiences, and explore potential partnerships with local tourism stakeholders.
As part of ATB’s continued efforts to diversify Azerbaijan’s regional tourism offering and bring greater visibility to destinations across the country, further familiarisation trips for local travel industry representatives are planned in other regions of Azerbaijan.
