The Representative Office of Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) in Türkiye, together with the Consulate General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Istanbul, is showcasing Azerbaijan’s craft heritage at the seventh CraftIstanbul International Handicrafts and Design Fair, held in Istanbul from 1-4 October.
One of Türkiye’s leading international platforms for handicrafts, design and cultural heritage, CraftIstanbul brings together 220 exhibitors, more than 600 artists and designers, and 50 international participants. The four-day program includes approximately 150 workshops and activities, with more than 30,000 visitors expected.
Azerbaijani artisans Matanat Mirzaliyeva, presenting kelaghayi, the traditional silk scarf, and Samani Gasimova, specialising in kilim weaving, bring visitors closer to the skills and stories behind these crafts. Their handmade works offer a glimpse into traditions that continue to be practised and passed down through generations in Azerbaijan.
With the artisans themselves at the heart of the presentation, visitors can discover the techniques and cultural traditions that give each craft its character and meet the people keeping this heritage alive.
These encounters offer a taste of the cultural experiences awaiting travellers in Azerbaijan, where visits to artisan workshops and the communities behind these traditions bring the country’s heritage to life.
Azerbaijan’s participation invites visitors to continue their discovery beyond the exhibition, exploring the country through its crafts, its people behind them and the places that have shaped their traditions.
