The 5th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye Joint Working Group on Tourism was held on 2nd April in Antalya.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in tourism, while also exploring opportunities for joint cooperation within international organizations. Discussions covered key areas such as tourism education, management of coastal destinations, and the development of winter, health, and gastronomy tourism. The parties also exchanged views on improving the legislative framework for sustainable tourism.
Particular attention was given to enhancing cooperation between public and private sector stakeholders, as well as expanding collaboration in regional tourism development, cultural heritage management, and joint marketing initiatives. The sides also discussed the preparation of a Joint Action Plan for 2026, building on the evaluation and outcomes of activities implemented in 2025.
During the discussions, special emphasis was placed on the designation of Shusha as the tourism capital of the Economic Cooperation Organization for 2026, as well as on cooperation within platforms such as UN Tourism. The meeting concluded with the signing of a protocol on tourism cooperation between the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye, further reinforcing the strategic tourism partnership between the two countries.
