Ookla, a leading company in internet speed and network quality measurement, held the first presentation on 27th January in Baku of its new product “, Speedtest Certified™” for the hospitality sector.
The event was held in Baku through the joint organization of the Information and Communication Technologies Agency (ICTA), Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB), and the Azerbaijan Hotel Association (AHA). More than 100 representatives from the tourism, telecommunications, and infrastructure sectors attended, discussing expectations for internet connectivity experiences in indoor spaces.
“High-quality, reliable, and consistent connectivity is no longer a luxury – it has become an expectation of every guest and a key element of a competitive, premium guest experience,” said Steven Bay, President and CEO of Ookla.
Sameddin Asadov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, stated that platforms like today’s summit are not only important for sharing information and analytical insights but also play a key role in shaping a common vision for Azerbaijan’s digital future.
Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB), emphasized that digital connectivity is a strategic factor for tourism competitiveness and sustainable development, while also boosting public–private partnerships. Recent advances in Azerbaijan’s digital infrastructure provide a strong foundation for year-round tourism and position the country as a reliable host for major international events.
The main goal of Ookla’s new product is to evaluate the internet infrastructure of businesses operating in the sector, certify them, improve internet quality, and provide guests with world-class digital experiences.
