Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) officially opened its representative office in Istanbul on December 9.
The ceremony was attended by Fuad Nagiyev, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency, Narmin Mustafayeva, Consul General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Istanbul, and Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of Azerbaijan Tourism Board, as well as representatives of the tourism industry and media from both Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
Fuad Nagiyev stated in his speech that the opening of the representative office marks a new phase in the development of cooperation between the two countries, will serve as an important platform for the structured and effective advancement of bilateral relations, and will contribute to raising awareness of Azerbaijan’s tourism brand in Türkiye.
He emphasized that Turkish visitors’ interest in Azerbaijan has been steadily increasing, and that over the past 5 years, Turkish citizens have ranked second among all foreign visitors to the country.
The event continued with a cultural program, where participants discussed future cooperation and ways to further strengthen relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye. The evening concluded with musical performances by the renowned Azerbaijani pianist and composer Isfar Sarabski.
Opening the representative office in Istanbul aims to strengthen collaboration with Turkish tourism industry, raise awareness of Azerbaijan’s diverse tourism offerings, and expand promotional activities. The office will oversee marketing and media campaigns, organize events, and engage with travel agencies and media outlets.
Turkish citizens can travel to Azerbaijan using their national ID cards, while regular flights operated by AZAL and numerous Turkish air carriers have significantly contributed to a three-fold increase in visitors from Türkiye between 2020 and 2024.
