From 16th to the 22nd of August, Azerbaijan hosted 10 of Pakistan’s leading travel companies within the framework of the Familiarization (FAM) Trip projects organized by Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) together in cooperation with Pakistan Travel Mart (PTM). The week-long program was designed to present Azerbaijan’s diverse tourism offerings, enhance business ties, and encourage cooperation between the travel industries of both countries.
As part of the program, on the 21st of August, a B2B meeting was held, bringing together the visiting agents with representatives of the local travel industry, with around 50 companies participating. This platform provided an opportunity to establish new business partnerships and promote Azerbaijan as a preferred destination for Pakistani travelers.
The Pakistani market has demonstrated remarkable growth in recent years. In 2019, approximately 46,586 Pakistani travelers visited Azerbaijan. By 2024, this number increased to 80,924, representing a 47% rise compared to 2023. According to 2024 statistics, Pakistan ranked eighth among the countries with the highest number of annual arrivals to Azerbaijan, highlighting its growing significance as a key source market.
The collaboration was also reinforced by ATB’s active presence in Pakistan earlier this year. In January, ATB presented Azerbaijan’s tourism potential at the Pakistan Travel Mart in Karachi, followed by participation in the Islamabad Roadshow in early February. With direct air connections now available between both countries through Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) from Lahore and Islamabad as well as Pakistan International Airlines from Lahore, the potential for further growth is promising, and even higher numbers of Pakistani travelers are expected to visit Azerbaijan by the end of 2025.
