At an international gathering focused on reshaping development pathways for landlocked countries, Azerbaijan is contributing a cultural perspective through its rich culinary heritage at a major international forum held in Turkmenistan.
Within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), the “Azerbaijan National Day” are taking place in Awaza. Organized by the State Tourism Agency and the Azerbaijan National Culinary Center, the event highlights traditional Azerbaijani cuisine as a reflection of both national identity and regional cultural connections.
The culinary section of the exhibition area presents a carefully curated selection of national dishes and desserts, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the flavors and traditions that have shaped Azerbaijan’s gastronomic legacy. Informed by sustainable principles and cultural storytelling, the stand’s concept draws on elements from Azerbaijan’s national cuisine that are recognized by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Visitors are also introduced to the culinary similarities shared with Turkmenistan, particularly through bread-making traditions and dishes such as gutab and tandir bread, which highlight long-standing cultural ties across the region.
The event runs until August 8 and contributes to the broader aims of LLDC3, which seeks to enhance economic resilience, reduce trade barriers, and improve regional cooperation for the 32 landlocked developing countries represented.
