The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) and the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan have signed a partnership agreement on the development of winter tourism and snow sports potential and on hosting international competitions in Azerbaijan.
The agreement includes cooperation with the Shahdag Mountain Resort, the construction and restoration of winter tourism infrastructure, the transformation of the resort into a winter sports destination for the tourists, and the hosting of international ski competitions.
One of the main goals within the framework of this international cooperation is to promote Azerbaijan as a destination where world-class professional winter sports competitions are held. It also seeks to ensure the implementation of a large-scale marketing and promotional campaign for our country’s tourism brand and products in the international arena.
According to the agreement, Azerbaijan will act as the International Ski and Snowboard Federation’s “Global Destination Partner” at global competitions (World Cups and Championships) organized by the Federation.
Notably, starting from the next winter season, the organization of world-class competitions of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation is planned at the Shahdag Mountain Resort.
