On October 25th, Azerbaijan Tourism Board officially established its Moscow office in a ceremony attended by leading representatives of the Russian and Azerbaijani tourism sectors, as well as key government officials and partners.
The primary aim of opening the Moscow office is to strengthen collaboration with Russian tourism organizations, enhance awareness of Azerbaijan’s tourism potential and offerings, and expand promotional activities within the Russian market. The office will oversee marketing and media campaigns, organize events, and engage with travel agencies and media outlets. It is anticipated that the office will play a key role in establishing productive partnerships with trade tourism companies and government agencies, thereby increasing tourist flows from Russia to Azerbaijan. Notable participants included Fuad Nagiyev, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Rahman Mustafayev, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Russian Federation, Dmitry Vakhrukov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Manuylov, Deputy Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, and Emin Agalarov, prominent businessman and President of Agalarov Development.
Fuad Nagiyev, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan, highlighted the importance of the Moscow office for bolstering bilateral cooperation in tourism. In his address, he noted, “I am confident that the launch of our Moscow office marks a new phase in the development of cooperation between our countries in this field. Our tourism relations have a longstanding tradition, and their growth is driven by the focused attention our heads of state devote to this sector.”
The event underscored the importance of tourism in strengthening relations between the two countries and provided a platform for discussing future cooperation. Attendees took the opportunity to explore additional ways to deepen tourism ties between Russia and Azerbaijan.
Currently, Azerbaijan Airlines and Russian carriers operate flights to various cities across Azerbaijan, ensuring steady air connectivity between the two countries. In the first nine months of 2024, Azerbaijan welcomed 564,008 Russian tourists, an 18% increase over the same period last year. Visa-free travel, regular flights, and positive tourism trends point to continued growth in visitor numbers in the future.
