The Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) is proud to announce its participation in the Moscow International Travel & Tourism Exhibition (MITT) 2024, the leading travel and tourism event in Russia and the CIS, taking place from March 19 to 21, 2024. This year, Azerbaijan is represented alongside 15 esteemed partners, highlighting the country's united front in promoting its rich cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes, and rapidly evolving tourism sector to the international community.
MITT 2024 provides a pivotal platform for direct engagement with travel agents, tour operators, and industry stakeholders from Russia and across the globe. Azerbaijan's presence, marked by a prominent stand at the exhibition, is set to underscore the nation's diverse offerings, from ancient historical sites to modern luxury resorts, catering to an array of traveler desires. This engagement is expected to significantly boost visibility, drive sales, and expand the geographical reach of Azerbaijan's tourism market.
The significance of Azerbaijan's participation is further underscored by the remarkable growth in tourist arrivals from January to February 2024. The country welcomed 91,397 visitors, marking a 21% increase compared to the 75,256 tourists during the same period in 2023. Notably, February 2024 saw Azerbaijan surpass pre-pandemic levels of Russian tourists, with 45,821 visitors, a 4% increase from the 44,192 recorded in February 2019. This achievement signifies a full recovery to pre-pandemic tourism figures and showcases Azerbaijan's appeal as a top travel destination for Russian tourists.
Azerbaijan's tourism industry continues to thrive, thanks to significant investments in infrastructure, sustainability initiatives, and cultural preservation. The country's diverse attractions, including UNESCO World Heritage sites, luxurious resorts, and vibrant culinary scene, position Azerbaijan as a compelling choice for travelers seeking authentic and memorable experiences.
