Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) is participating in the COTTM in 2023, which is scheduled to take place from 15th to 17th November in Beijing, China. At the dedicated national stand, Azerbaijan represents the diverse and captivating travel opportunities – from its rich cultural heritage and UNESCO sites to hiking through lush landscapes and wellness experiences at the top-notch resorts. Attendees can also learn about traditional cuisine and enjoy the tasting of traditional Azerbaijani sweets.
Guests visiting the stand have the opportunity to meet with representatives from ATB and 10 industry partners, including Azerbaijan Airlines, hotels and tourism agencies. This provides an opportunity to learn more about the destination and explore collaboration opportunities.
Within the framework of COTTM, a Networking Dinner in Beijing has been organized. The occasion served as a platform for building a network with Chinese stakeholders and a media briefing, to share the most current updates on Azerbaijan's tourism landscape. Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) and China Tourism Group (CTG), and Oyer were formally signed, marking a significant stride in enhancing tourism opportunities for both countries. Furthermore, these high-end partnerships extended to include online promotional campaigns on platforms such as Weibo, Wechat, Qyer and Ctrip.
In recent years, Azerbaijan has emerged as a highly sought-after travel destination for tourists from Asia, in part due to its convenient flights, easy visa procedures, and reputation as a dynamic cultural and business hub. The added convenience for Chinese tourists is the ease of obtaining visas upon arrival. These activities are complemented by the announcement of the upcoming launch of new direct flights from Baku to Beijing by Azerbaijan Airlines connecting the two destinations.
Visitors to the stand will be introduced to Azerbaijan’s myriad attractions, including the UNESCO World Heritage sites of the Old City of Baku, the Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape, the Sheki Historic Centre and newly inscribed Khinalig village and ‘Köç Yolu’ Transhumance Route. Cosmopolitan capital Baku boosts with tapestry of city experiences, from museums and galleries, to chic bars with local wines and delicacies, to array of restaurants with traditional and international cuisines, as well as countless MICE offerings. With its well-equipped resources and world-class infrastructure, Azerbaijan can host events of all scales. It features a 5-star Baku International Airport, rated by Skytrax, plethora of chain hotels, versatile venues such as the iconic Flame Towers, and facilities like the Baku Congress Centre and the Heydar Aliyev Centre, which includes museums, exhibition complexes, and multimedia conference rooms for international conferences and events.
